When Wilhelm Rüter planned his hotel more than forty years ago, he wanted to create a restaurant in the completely renovated “Central Hotel” that would attract all generations over the decades. The founder of the Kaiserhof, who was a family man trained as a butcher and a gourmand through and through, wanted the location to be spacious and noble, with warm colours and rustic materials but also bright and cosy. He wanted it to be centred around regional cuisine with a seasonal emphasis, or what we call “Heimatfood” today. This gave birth to the Brunnenhof restaurant.

It is named after the well-preserved fountain with fish in the inner courtyard. As a visible sign for the enjoyment that was always the focus of the Brunnenhof, Wilhelm Rüter left the kitchen open so patrons could have an unobstructed view of the cooks at work with pots and stoves. Anyone who sees them in action today will have an appetite for the freshly prepared classic dishes and delicacies from German cuisine such as Wiener Schnitzel, Trout Müllerin, Onion roast or Grandma’s beef rouladen stewed in Burgundy sauce with French beans and parsley potatoes – “Heimatfood” at its best!

A large selection of wines from predominantly German wine regions is available to accompany the town’s familiar atmosphere – these include a dozen or so selected red and white wines, as well as vigorous summer rosés from the bar. Seasonal specialities raise the culinary bar for private and business meetings. These include great gourmet moments with fresh asparagus from the region, young maties from Holland, fine mushrooms from chanterelles to truffles to porcini mushrooms, game from national stock as well as favourite winter dishes such as delicious goose, duck or suckling pig.

Every weekday between 12:00 and 15:00 we offer an especially attractive lunch at the Restaurant Brunnenhof – maybe even the best lunch in Hanover. Traditional food is served in our bright, elegant and rustic rooms which have been popular without interruption since the 1970s and are seen as an integral part of the city. This so-called “home food” touches the heart and stomach: modern classics, tasty regional favourite dishes and daily culinary surprises at low prices. We prepare everything on site and à la minute in the show kitchen. We only use fresh ingredients that have lots of vitamins and nutrients as if they came directly from the weekly market.

MODERN CLASSICS, MODERATE PRICES AND
EVERYTHING ALSO TO “TAKE AWAY”

Whether you are in a rush or if you’ve got time to indulge: the down-to-earth, modern German lunch cuisine of the Brunnenhof offers something for every guest and every taste. With a choice of five to seven daily changing lunch dishes (three of them for our guests in a rush), homemade soups and salads, both meat and fish fans, as well as vegetarians get their money’s worth. Meat and fish are served the way they should be: as enjoyable main dishes, for example in the form of baked cheek of beef with roast potatoes, fish fillets in white wine cream or a quick, sous vide-cooked beef rib. Delicious desserts from our own dessert kitchen complete your dining experience perfectly. All meals are also available “to take away” – back home or to the office. Lunch with friends, family and colleagues Dishes that are not purely meant for meat lovers, but still come as the main course include potato gnocchi on wild garlic pesto, carrot-fennel soups or other vitamin-packed vegetable and pasta dishes.

Here too, there are beloved kitchen classics such as porcini risotto, beetroot ravioli or “well-food” dishes with a balanced variety of flavours, colours and textures. We are happy to cater to guests with allergies and intolerances. The same applies for guests who want to turn special occasions into a “Lunch to Remember”. We are happy to assist you with festive lunches with or without a theme, as well as with the preparation of the surrounding programme of an event in our conference rooms.

UNCOMPLICATED AND DELICIOUS–OUR OPEN
WINE ACCOMPANIMENT ON REQUEST

If you want to pop the corks at noon, you are sure to find the right choice in our beverages list. In addition to a large selection of bottled wines from predominantly German wine regions, more than a dozen selected red and white wines and sparkling summer rosés are also available in a glass. Plus, anything that bubbles: from glass to bottle size – whether crémant, sparkling wine, prosecco or champagne, we serve these in small sampling sizes from 0.1 or 0.2 to 0.75 litres. For all those who want or need to keep a clear head, we offer a general selection of exquisite mineral waters that are sparkling and non-sparking and originate from alpine glacial springs or the wonderful home of Hanover.

The separate club room in the Brunnenhof restaurant offers space for up to 25 people and can be rented for private parties. The small, cosy, rustic dining room has precious cherry-wood panelling, which gives it its characteristic warm, reddish-brown hue. Whether it’s birthday parties, anniversaries, private or business events or other celebrations in an intimate setting, the Cherry Room fits a variety of wonderful occasions. Enjoy a special menu, tailored to your personal invitation, with seasonal specials and sweet extra wishes such as birthday and theme cakes from our in-house pâtisserie and exquisite wines and champagnes from our well-stocked wine cellar. We would be happy to discuss your plans and help you with the organisation.
